Whether you are just starting a work from home business, or have owned a home business for a while, it is very important to the success of your business that you write content. As a work from home business owners, you must write new content as frequently as possible.

This content can be for your website, article directory submissions, blog posts, or social media. With the sheer amount of content that you need to publish, you must make sure that you receive all the benefits from this commitment. you need to make sure that the content is written with search engine optimization in mind.

By optimizing your content, you can improve your website rankings. By writing SEO friendly content, you can also get ranking for individual articles in the search engines.

Here are some key ideas to keep in mind when writing content:

Content

Writing content is very import no matter what your niche is. It can reach a very large audience very quickly. Creating copy that is well written and focusing on different aspects of your niche will not only help your website with ranking, but will show you are an expert in your niche. You will also get your visitors to return to your site for information for years to come.

Original Content

You must write unique, informative, and original content. Never use duplicate content or private label rights (PLR) articles. The search engine are changing their algorithms constantly to catch duplicate content.

Compelling Title

Make the title of your articles an attention grabber. Peak the curiosity of your readers. Make people want to read your article.

Try to incorporate a keyword or key-phrase in the title, if your can.

Length and Keyword Density

With the search engines cracking down on websites with questionable content, your articles should range between 500-1000 words in length. Anything less, and the search engines will
think your website is spammy.

It is like a lady wearing a mini-skirt…short enough to be interesting, but long enough to cover everything…as my high school English teacher would say.

Your keyword density should be about 5%, or about 3 times in a 500 word article, is a good rule of thumb.

Don’t stack keywords

Do not over use your keywords or key-phrases, called keyword stacking. It is very unprofessional and the search engines will think the article is spam.

Some article directories will allow 1-2 “linked” keywords within an article, do not include more than what their restrictions allow, or your article will be rejected.

Make sure that when including keywords, do not disturb the natural flow of the article.

Stay on topic

Make sure that you stay on the topic of your title. Do not stray in another direction. If your title is about “blue widgets”, do not write your article about “yellow widgets”.

Add some personality show in your articles.

Add Keywords to the Bio

An article for a directory submission is a great chance for you to enhance your credentials and also optimize your content. Make sure that you include one to two keyword in your bio.
These should be linked to your website and sales page.

Use meta descriptions

Meta descriptions, for your website, are 150 character descriptions of your content, and are excellent opportunities for optimization. Make sure your content has meta descriptions with keywords included. This is a great way to get Google to recognize your content and increase its value.

Include “tags” to articles that you post on your blog, they act as meta tags.

Relevant Images

Having eye-catching images that are relevant to your content will grab the reader’s attention. For a 500 word article, do not use more than a couple of images. For longer articles you can use more.

By using these ideas, you should find that your website and content will get better rankings in the search engines. As a work from home business owner, you must do everything possible to get better ranking for your articles and website.
